Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! D. Matt Innis 20:53, 15 August 2008 (CDT)
Hello -- and PLEASE keep it up!
Hi Alex,
I don't understand a word you (or anyone else) write(s) about postmodernism, being a simple, old-fashioned guy who thinks Raymond Chandler and Robert A. Heinlein are about as good writers as you can find (well, Evelyn Waugh and P.G. Wodehouse, too) but it's nice to see someone doing *something* in the Liberal Arts! Geez, it's lonely here! Please -- keep contributing! Hayford Peirce 02:11, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks Hayford. If it's any consolation I like Chandler and Waugh too! I'm not 100% sold on postmodernism either... but I've been taught it enough at school and uni so I figure I can share some of my confusion here. I'll definitely keep contributing here. I'm new but I like here already. Alex Wilson 02:59, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- I took a course at Harvard in 1960 in what I guess was a basic English requirement in which the lecturer was Richard Poirier -- it was all about Deconstruction, I guess, or maybe "Close textural analysis", which sure baffled me at the time. And continues to do so. Poirier went on to be famous in a modest way, at Brown, I guess. But I'm still baffled by all the BS he threw at us. (To make it worse, he was my section man also. I solved that problem by never going to them, hehe...) Hayford Peirce 03:30, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
