Still missing: the musician's brain as a model system for plasticity research
The basic idea here is that intensive training, as it is usual for professionals, results in more readily measurable effects than occasional exercise. Another aspect is that (in contrast to language, for instance) the capabilities between different individuals vary considerably, which facilitates the analysis of correlations with other variables.
