Penicillin

Penicillin refers to a class of antibiotic drugs that have a common $\beta$-lactam structure. Some bacterial have developed resistance to penicillins through the acquisition of $\beta$-lactamases, enzymes which degrade the $\beta$-lactam structures of the penicillin drugs.
