Sperm production in men is a continuous process from puberty to old age that involves several portions of the male reproductive system. The spermatozoon that is capable of fertilizing an ovum and giving rise to an embryo begins as a cell with different characterstics, and undergoes a process of several stages over a period of 74 days before reaching maturity. This article summarizes that process.
