Gerd Müller
Gerhard Gerd Müller (born 3 November 1945 in Nördlingen, West Germany) is a retired (West) German football striker, nicknamed "Bomber der Nation" (The Nation's Bomber) for his astounding career as a goal scorer. Müller maintains the national goal-scoring record for Germany, with 68 goals in 62 international appearances. Gerd also scored 365 goals in 427 Bundesliga matches, and holds a record of 66 goals in 74 European Club appearances. Between 1974 and 2006, Müller was proclaimed with the all-time highest FIFA World Cup overall goal scorer title with 14 goals marked in FIFA World Cup games. His record was later surpassed by Brazilian striker Ronaldo on June 27, 2006, when playing against Ghana at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, which was coincidently held at Gerd's homeland, Germany. At the end of the 2006 tournament, Ronaldo had scored 15 goals overall in four FIFA World Cups.
