Philipp Baecker is Assistant Professor of Corporate Finance and Risk Management at European Business School, Oestrich-Winkel (Germany). Dr. Baecker's research interests are in corporate finance and risk management, with a particular focus on capital budgeting and the real options approach.
Philipp Baecker holds degrees in computer science and business administration. He gathered practical experience with capital goods manufacturers in Germany and abroad as well as a major US investment bank. During his doctoral studies he was a fellow of the German National Academic Foundation. In 2006, he received his Ph.D. in Finance with distinction from European Business School, having spent several months as a Visiting Scholar at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Philipp Baecker has published numerous articles in the field of capital budgeting and risk management. In addition, he is a frequent speaker at international conferences. His training and consulting experience includes a number of DAX-listed companies from various industries. At European Business School he teaches introductory and advanced courses in corporate finance and valuation on the undergraduate and graduate level.
