Michael Wade is an expatriate Canuck who makes his home in Dallas, Texas. He is a Mechanical Design Engineer currently working for AMX, a company that designs high-end residential/commercial/government automation and control systems.
Wade received a three-year Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma from Durham College of Applied Arts and Technology in May 1996. He specializes in the mechanical 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software packages Pro/ENGINEER and SolidWorks, as well as the 2D CAD software standard, AutoCAD. Wade uses the aforementioned CAD software to design plastic injection-molded and sheet metal components for the telecommunications and automation/control industries. Outside of work, he is a motorcycle fanatic, namely sportbikes ( i.e. crotch rockets), and has followed the AMA and MotoGP series closely for the past nine years. Wade also enjoys reading non-fiction, practising calligraphy, and learning about photography (he is complete novice).

General skills
- Design of electro-mechanical assemblies housed in either sheet metal or plastic enclosures.
- Design of plastic injection molded components.
- Design of precision machined components.
- Interface with vendors to determine the best manufacturing methods and most cost-effective process for timely project completion.
- Cost reducing current products for further savings.
- Experience in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Web site layout and design.
System skills
- 1,000+ hours of SolidWorks (rev 2007).
- 25,000+ hours Pro/ENGINEER (revs 19 - Wildfire 2.0) utilizing the following modules: Pro/MODEL, Pro/ASSEMBLY, Pro/DETAIL, Pro/SHEETMETAL, Pro/SURFACE and Pro/ECAD.
- 12,000+ hours Pro/INTRALINK (revs 2.0 - 3.0) part database management.
- 20,000+ hours CADDS5 utilizing the following modules: Explicit and Parametric Modeling, NURBS Surfacing, 2 and 3-axis NC Programming, CAMU (Concurrent Assembly Mock-Up), Stresslab (Finite Element Analysis), CVMac Programming, EDM, and Optegra Locator.
- 5000+ hours AutoCAD 2000 LT.
- Agile, Point.Man, and Sherpa product lifecycle management (PLM) software.
- Create silkscreen artwork and labels using Adobe Illustrator.
- UNIX scripting using the Korn and Bourne shells.
