It is an open set of extensions to the HTTP protocol that allows remote content editing and sharing of files on World Wide Web server. WebDAV has been coined as "The Standard for Collaborative Authoring on the World Wide Web" by the Internet Engineering Task Force. [1] Popular software titles that support WebDAV include Microsoft FrontPage, Microsoft Sharepoint Designer, Microsoft Office Sharepoint Services, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Adobe Contribute.
