I'm inclined to think this should be in American English--surely we eat many more hot dogs than you do "across the pond," no?
Removed this sentence:

The Colombian Exposition was in 1893.  But if we insert "1893" for "1867," the result is nonsense, because the next sentence says, "By 1893, these sausages had become popular snacks at ballgames." --[[User:Larry Sanger|Larry Sanger]]`
