I copied this article from Wikipedia and removed  numerous errors and inaccuracies. For instance, Hartree did not use spinorbitals, but spatial orbitals. The crucial definition of '''x'''''i'' is not given.  I entered in the Wiki article a reference to Slater's original 1929 paper in Physical Review. I noticed that some brilliant Wikipedian found it necessary to change it to Physics. Review. Somebody entered an expression with ''det'' in the Wiki version which is completely incomprehensible and wasn't there when I last looked. (If you read Wikipedia frustration in this comment you are right). --[[User:Paul Wormer|Paul Wormer]] 07:38, 18 August 2007 (CDT)
