Ross A. Perkins earned his doctorate in instructional technology at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Blacksburg, Virginia, USA [http://www.vt.edu]) in 2003. His research interests include the role of context in instructional design, the integration of technology in K-12 education, distance education in international settings, and multi-user learning environments. As a member of the research faculty in Virginia Tech's School of Education, Perkins has been involved in project management of two federally funded projects: the Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology grant (U.S. Department of Education) and the University Partnerships for Institutional Capacity grant (U.S. Agency for International Development). In addition to his duties regarding sponsored research, he has taught classes and provided training on educational technology implementation to faculty, K12 teachers, and pre-service teacher candidates. Additionally, Perkins is a member of the Board of Directors for the Virginia Society for Technology in Education [http://www.vste.org], and serves as the editor of the VSTE Journal.
