Some of his films have achieved cult status in addition to being commercial successes. The plots generally involve troubled or violent characters, and lengthy dialogue about controversial topics.
Tarantino acknowledges the influence of Spaghetti Westerns on his work, especially the films of Sergio Leone. The title of Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (2019) pays homage to Leone's classic Western Once Upon A Time In The West (1968).
Tarantino has twice won the Best Original Screenplay Academy Award — for Pulp Fiction (1995) and Django Unchained (2013).
