Houston, Texas is the largest city in Texas.
Houston is an important hub for the petroleum and petrochemicals industries.
Houston is not located on the Gulf of Mexico, but it was connected to the Gulf by the Houston Ship Channel in the early 19th century. The channel is 43 feet deep - deeper than the St Lawrence Seaway.
