Vipera aspis hugyi is a venomous viper subspecies[2] found only in Italy.[3]
Description
Usually marked with a fused zigzag stripe and a distinctly raised snout. Specimens from Montecristo Island, sometimes referred to as V. a. montecristi, are similar, but with a reduced tendency for the dorsal markings to fuse.[4]
Geographic range
Found only in Italy in Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicily and on Montecristo Island.[3]
