Apple iWorks, successor to AppleWorks, was created by Apple in 2005 and consists of Pages, Keynote, and Numbers. Pages is a word processor released with iWork '05 in 2005. Pages is not cross-compatible with Microsoft Word and uses the file format .pages. Keynote is a presentations software that was originally released stand-alone in 2003. Keynote uses the file-format .key and is not cross-compatible with Microsoft PowerPoint. Numbers is a spreadsheet application added in 2007 for iWork '08 that uses the file format .numbers and is not cross-compatible with Microsoft Excel.
