Referenda
The election will vote on the following referenda.
Citizen initiated referenda
Referendum 1: Charter majority amendment
Proposed by John Stephenson
1. Article 37, section 'Furthermore', point 3 of the Citizendium Charter shall be modified to replace the text referring to a "qualified majority of two thirds of the votes validly cast":
- Any amendment to and any change of this Charter shall require a referendum and shall be ratified if accepted by a qualified majority of more than half the votes validly cast.
2. In the event that this referendum passes and one or more other referenda on the Charter held at the same time receive more than 50% of valid votes in support but not a two-thirds majority, then the new version of Article 37 shall apply to those other referenda, i.e. they shall also pass.
The above referendum is further discussed at Referendum 1.
As this referendum modifies the Charter, it shall be ratified if accepted by a qualified majority of two thirds of the votes validly cast.
Referendum 2: Import of material to Citizendium
Proposed by Anton Sweeney
The Citizendium community affirms:
- the principles stated at CZ:About, namely that Citizendium "is an open wiki project dedicated to creating a free, comprehensive, and reliable repository of structured knowledge." and
- the open nature of the project, as indicated by our use of the Creative Commons CC-by-sa 3.0 licence.
The community therefore:
- rescinds Editorial Council Resolution R-2010-013 of 12th December, 2010;
- affirms that material that complies with our inclusion criteria may be imported into Citizendium, provided it is imported from a source either in the public domain or otherwise compatible with Creative Commons CC-by-sa 3.0 licence;
- encourages citizens who import such material to:
- convert it to Citizendium standards and style, and
- work to improve it without undue delay; and
- affirms that where such imported material has not been worked on within 30 days of import, it may be removed, moved to userspace, moved to Cold Storage, or otherwise archived, at the request of any citizen.
The above referendum is further discussed at Referendum 2
As this referendum does not modify the Charter, it shall be ratified if accepted by a qualified majority of the votes validly cast.
Council initiated referenda
Referendum 3: Reducing the number of members of the Management Council
Proposed by the Management Council
As allowed by Article 25, Section 4, item 1, the number of Management Council members will be reduced to 3 on July 1, 2012.
The above referendum is further discussed at Referendum 3.
As this referendum does not modify the Charter, it shall be ratified if accepted by a qualified majority of the votes validly cast.
Referendum 4: Reducing the number of members of the Editorial Council
Proposed by the Editorial Council
The size of the Editorial Council shall be reduced from seven to five members (to take effect by July 1, 2012), comprising three Editor seats and two Author seats.
The above referendum is further discussed at Referendum 4
