Cambridge is a city in eastern England which is the location of the University of Cambridge. It is in Cambridgeshire and has a population of 130,000, of which around a fifth are students.

Geography

Cambridge is the county town of Cambridgeshire. It is situated upon the river Cam, about 50 miles north of London.

History

In Roman times, Cambridge was known as Camboritum, and the Roman ruins still stand in the city. The university was founded in the 1200s.

Transport

The M11 terminates in Cambridge. The A14 also passes close. Cambridge Airport is close to the city.
