Total Tennis Encyclopedia says July 3rd. I just read the 1995 NYT obit in the July 5th edition and it says he died "Monday night". I checked the Windows calendar on my computer and it says that Monday in early July of 1995 was the 3rd. So I think we can say that it was almost certainly the 3rd....
