This article is as done (as a first draft) as I can make it for now. Anyone in the economics group who can contribute more on Wharton or Patten's economics is encouraged to do so. Also, edit away on Simon's social work contributions, but please do not eliminate them! Although his turned out to be a minority view (except during the 1960s), it is still not altogether lost to social work, and needs to be reflected here.)
