Turkey did not exist before 1923, There should be a separate article on the Ottoman Empire. Also, the origins of Turkey are not correctly given here: the situation with the breakup of the Empire and the role of the Great Powers is very complex, and needs to be explained. --Martin Baldwin-Edwards 14:51, 15 November 2007 (CST)
