The title of the article is "Educational Technology," but this seems very limited me, especially since it already seems to concentrate on EdTech as *tools.* What about the broader term "Instructional Technology," or its variants - Instructional Design, Instructional Systems Design, and so on. Outside the U.S., this field of study is known as ICT, or "Information and Communications Technology." Do each of these names become separate articles in CZ, or simply mentioned in this one? The debate is hardly new - it has gone on for many years and we are unlikely to resolve it here. However, I am concerned with the narrow focus implied by the start of this article; we need to think about a broader view. | |||
Furthermore, how do we make this into a manageable article? There are huge volumes of text that discuss ET / IT / ISD / ICT, so do how does one manage any of it? Perhaps it is not necessary to do so... just let the seeds grow and perhaps all will eventually connect. |
