Trying to set this up

I've never set up a subgroup, and it doesn't yet seem to be working. So far, I think I've added myself as a member, and information assurance, cryptology, and classified information as articles. What, if anything, am I doing wrong, or do I need to wait for something to update? --Howard C. Berkowitz 15:48, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Perhaps it needed definition of the Security article first? After that, it seemed to work -- although it also could have been timing. Howard C. Berkowitz 17:00, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Lemma/redirect articles

There are things like rewrite attack or Feistel cipher that should likely be added, but since they are only redirects, I'm not sure how. Putting a subpages tag on them seems excessive. Sandy Harris 04:46, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

At present we are not adding categories to lemma articles or redirect terms. This does not mean it will never happen but I'd say don't worry about it for now. Chris Day 04:53, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

My worry is that when a user looks at the subgroup to see what is covered, the list should include those terms. My example terms could be made into separate articles to facilitate that, but I do not think either of them should be. Sandy Harris 05:01, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

We've discussed this issue in the forums a bit and there is no easy solution. In the long run I think the readers will gravitate to the related articles subpages for navigating through a topic. Such subpages have the advantage that many of the redirects will exist on those pages along with their definitions with the use of the R template. The categories, while useful for cataloging too, are primarily for allowing a recent changes view, like a watchlist specific to security (see the recent changes link above). But, Daniel does have some ideas how the redirect terms could be in the appropriate categories if a related articles page for the redirect exists. Ideally we'd like to avoid the manual placement of categories since inevitably there will be typo's and authors will be too creative and make up novel categories. Chris Day 05:58, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
