James Augustine Aloysius Joyce (1882-1941) was an Irish novelist who portrayed life in Ireland in Dubliners, a collection of short stories. He is best known for Ulysses, often regarded as one of the 20th century's greatest English language novels. His most experimental and "difficult" novel is Finnegan's Wake.
