This page lists the different types of Diabetes. All types of diabetes are characterized by excessive urination (polyuria). In diabetes insipidus, the urination is due to insufficient effect of antidiuretic hormone. In the other types of diabetes, the urination is due to high blood levels of glucose. The glucose functions as a diuretic and causes the kidneys to make urine.
