David, I used to do a lot of laser surgery, with KTP, CO2 lasers, through Zeiss scopes of various kinds, what references are you using for the word "microdissection"? - Reading the content so far, it seems to be from the perspective of genomics and tissue collection for diagnostic purposes. Although the article mentions Laser-capture dissection that is the term i have heard used more frequently.
- Microdissections sounds more like laser ablation pioneered by Judith Kimball and still used as a tool by developmental biologists.[1] Nancy's description above sounds more like that angle from a surgical perspective.
- So does the term microdissection encompass both laser-capture and laser ablation? Chris Day (talk) 19:56, 14 May 2007 (CDT)
