I am a little bit confused here. It seems that we should already have a good backgound in something before we can do edit. I mean, my expertise is only about Granular_material (see it Indonesian version). About physics, it is for me recently too wide,
Morever I have to admit that my English is not so good. I mean, I can read but not so good in writing. Furthermore I do my PhD right now in German and also the exams in near future, and that ruins more my English. It seems these days for me hard to contribute. Probably later.
I thank you for contacting me. I really appreciate that. Thank's. Sparisoma Viridi(talk) 12:02, 14 February 2007 (CST)

Hello - some time ago you became part of the Citizendium project, but we haven't seen you around for a while. Perhaps you'd like to update your public biography or check on the progress of any pages you've edited so far.
Citizendium now has over 16,000 articles, with more than 150 approved by specialist Editors such as yourself, but our contributor numbers require a boost. We have an initiative called 'Eduzendium' that brings in students enrolled on university courses to write articles for credit, but we still need more Editors across the community to write, discuss and approve material. There are some developed Chemistry and Physics articles that could be improved and approved, and some high-priority Natural Sciences articles that we don't have yet. You can also create new articles via this guide, and contribute to some Chemistry or Physics pages that have been recently edited here and here - or to any others on Citizendium, since you're a general Author as well as a specialist Editor. You may like to contribute to discussions in the forums, and might consider running for an elected position on the Management and Editorial Councils that oversee the project.
If you have any questions, let me know via my Talk page or by leaving a message below this one. Thank you for signing up and reading this update; I hope that you will look in on our community soon. Electronics

Fred, should electronics be included in Physics Workgroup?--Versuri 16:56, 1 December 2006 (CST)

Some questions

Dear Fred, thanks for your welcoming message. I am looking forward to making a useful contribution. Some questions:

 • Will there be photos at CZ articles? I notice that although text has been copied across from Wikipedia, photos have not. If there will be no photos, that's fine. But if there are going to be photos, could we please, please, have a more coherent and comprehensible copyright policy (and preferably a more liberal one), than the incoherent mess at Wikipedia? Also, I hope I will not have to re-upload the hundreds of original photos I have contributed to Wikpedia.
 • I have just replaced the existing Joseph Goebbels article with the new one I recently wrote for Wikipedia - the forking date for the Wikipedia version we are using seems to predate this. I have tagged the article as "live." Is this the correct procedure?
 • I see we have the same annoying text bug that Wikipedia has. When text is viewed at "medium" size on IE (I don't know about other browsers), the superscript footnotes disrupt the line spacing in a very ugly way. I was never able to find the right person at Wikpedia to get this fixed. How are such matters to be dealt with here?

I tried logging into http://forum.citizendium.org/index.php/board,18.0.html and http://forge.citizendium.org/gf/project/caesarwiki/tracker/ but they tell me my user name does not exist. Huh. Obviously there are still some teething problems here. Adam Carr 11:11, 6 January 2007 (CST)

I, Jimbo Wales, declare ownership over Citizendium

You just reverted me stating Im a "vandal"? Excuse me?  Glen  06:27, 23 January 2007 (CST)

I reverted you in the process of trying to fix the front page vandalism; which i think you were doing at the same time, and I was having some bad server lag. However, you could be a little more civil Fred Salsbury 06:35, 23 January 2007 (CST)
I fail to see how Im being uncivil, but nevermind. Thanks for the explanation. How are these usernames Jimbo Wales, Jimmy Wales and Willy on Wheels being created with the "real name as your username" CZ policy?  Glen  06:58, 23 January 2007 (CST)
Also, if you look here you'll see Im the only prior editor before yourself, as such it does appear Im directly being called a vandal.  Glen  07:00, 23 January 2007 (CST)
First, "Excuse me?" was what I was referring to. Second, somehow the moves screwed up the logs. I was reverting when the main page was redirecting to this page and there were several editors before you on that page. You managed a revert before I finished mine due to lag. So I am sorry if you thought the vandal remark was referring to you, when it was referring to the front page vandals. As for the "real name" policy, it is still there -- so these users are blocked now -- but there was a registration change yesterday [1] due to the number of applications overwhelming the personnel people. Fred Salsbury 07:10, 23 January 2007 (CST)
Ah, thanks for the explanation Glen Stollery 15:11, 23 January 2007 (CST)

Hi

Hi Fred, nice to see you over here. I realised recently that I hadn't seen you over at WP in a long time. Good to know you're still active in the world of trying to create a free encyclopaedia. Ian Ramjohn 11:26, 23 January 2007 (CST)

Returning to Citizendium: an update on the project and how to get involved

John Stephenson 07:51, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
