Herrontown Woods is an 142-acre nature preserve on the eastern end of the Princeton Ridge in northeast Princeton, New Jersey. The property is owned by the municipality of Princeton and cared for by the Friends of Herrontown Woods[1]. The park is a large, boulder-filled corridor of preserved land with over three miles of trails through mature forest. It was created in 1957 from land donated by Oswald Veblen and his wife Elizabeth M D Richardson. The headwaters of an upper tributary of Harry’s Brook originate in the preserve, and several rocky streams come down from the ridge and join near the parking lot on Herrontown Road. The tree-cleared right-of-way for the underground Transco Gas Pipeline bisects the property southwest to northeast, crossing several of the trails.
