Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! D. Matt Innis 23:50, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi, David Finn? Thank you. I don't understand how to write you a message?
Hi Lydia, I have changed the format of your reply to show you how it works - if you notice, when you press the edit button, each reply has colons in front (:), and this comes out as indentation. One colon for the first reply, two for the second, and each reply is indented to make reading easier.
This is an example of indenting further.
You can change it to highlight different parts of your comment also. The other thing is to sign your comments - just type ~~~~ (called four tildes) after whatever you write (on talkpages that is, not in articles) and the software signs your name and datestamps the comment, so everyone knows who is talking and how old the conversation is.
