Mark Grannis is a partner with the law firm of Harris, Wiltshire & Grannis LLP, in Washington, D.C. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Michigan Law School, where he served as an editor of the Michigan Law Review and won several awards for legal writing. In 1989-1990, he clerked for Judge Stephen Reinhardt of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Grannis received his A.B., cum laude, from Georgetown University in 1985, with a double-major in Government and Economics.
Mr. Grannis handled a wide variety of general civil litigation until 1994-1996, when he served as Senior Legal Advisor to the Chief of the FCC's International Bureau. For the next six or seven years he focused almost exclusively on telecommunication regulation -- particularly the regulation of satellites and other wireless devices. His practice now includes an eclectic mix of litigation, telecommunications, and appellate cases raising issues as basic as privacy or civil rights, and as specialized as telemarketing regulation or management of the radiofrequency spectrum.
In 2006, Mr. Grannis founded Reasonable Minds, a collaborative blog committed to the promotion of civility in political and cultural discourse.
