Evening class and later part-time study to first degree level - Associate of Institute of Chemistry 1954, now Royal Society of Chemistry, later Fellow and Chartered Chemist..

Packaging technology and marketing including milk packaging and aerosol technology 1954-73, occupational health and safety 1973 92 including editorship of a commercial journal 85-92.. Participated in and officer of various relevant technical/commercial bodies during this period.

Elected borough councillor (Labour Party) Hemel Hempstead, Herts UK, 1964-67. Various not unduly onerous positions in voluntary service 67- 98.

Brought up a Christian, progressively agnostic, atheist and currently but not belligerently anti-theist.

Fellow, Royal Society of Arts, UK, former Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
