I was born in Shawano, WI, USA on 8 August, 1981. My father was Kreg Konrod Scully, a lapidary artist whose works were exhibited at the Museum of Natural History, London and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. My mother is Anna Lee Scully, a folk musician and entertainer with a wonderful voice.

I graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. I am currently a graduate student studying Computer Science at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.

I work as a computer programmer. I am a proponent of open source software.

My spare time is split between many hobbies. I am an avid rock climber. I climb at the New River Gorge, West Virginia. I am an amateur mechanic and love to work on my 1988.5 Suzuki Samurai. I subscribe to Make magazine and aspire to be a better craftsman. I am always looking for ways to decrease my personal consumption and other ways I can do my part for the world.
