Brunswick County is in the southeastern Coastal Plain region of North Carolina (U.S. state), in the United States of America. As of 2004 it has an estimated population of 85,000. Bolivia is the county seat, and the county is also home to the communities of Southport (which was the county seat from 1808 to 1977) and Holden Beach, among others. The county was named in honor of King George I of England, who also held the title of Duke of Brunswick and Lunenburg.
