The MV Eddie Somers is a support vessel operated by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.[1][2] She was ordered in July 2020 and commissioned in August 2022, replacing the MV J. Milliard Tawes. She is named after the J. Milliard Tawes's last Captain.[3]
She is designed to serve as both a buoy tender and light icebreaker.[2]
