The Royal Yacht Squadron is a British yacht club based on the Isle of Wight. Founded in 1815 in London it was originally called the Yacht Club. It was first renamed the Royal Yacht Club in 1820 following the coronation of George IV, a member of the Yacht Club since 1817, and became the Royal Yacht Squadron in 1833 by command of William IV.
