A yacht is a recreational water vessel. There are two distinct meanings of the term. The first is one of a number of types of sailing boat used in competitive racing or yachting. The second refers, more generically, to a luxurious vessel for private use; while most luxury yachts are moderately sized, some "superyachts" are of ship size.

The America's Cup is the best-known yachting race. It is also an event in the Olympic Games.
