John Tyler, Jr. (March 29, 1790 – January 18, 1862) was a United States politician and the tenth President of the United States. He was vice president to William Henry Harrison and succeeded him as president when Harrison died. Before becoming president, he was the governor of Virginia and a senator from that state.
