This is a supplement to the philosophy article.
Under construction: this will be a list of famous philosophers, in chronological order, listing Western philosophers and then Eastern philosophers.
Socrates (470/69 B.C. – 399 B.C.)

- Works (approximately 0 words): No extant writings, but the Apology of Plato is alleged to be a record of an actual speech of Socrates
- Major contributions:
- Logic: Socratic method defined standards of reasoning and definition
- Ethics: Famous for examining the nature of various virtues
