Biography: Deborah A. Sommer (know as Deb). Librarian. Vanderbilt University.

Positions:

Over 27 years of experience in different subject fields in libraries - primarily business, consumer health (medicine), music (primarily popular music history), higher education and natural resources. Positions held include my current position as a librarian at the Walker Management Library at Vanderbilt University; Librarian with the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (funded by the National Library of Medicine); Librarian with the USDA Forest Service; (first) Director of the SBDC Connection - the first nationwide information clearinghouse for Small Business Development Centers - now located in San Antonio http://sbdcnet.org/; librarian in the Main Reference Department at the University of Georgia; and librarian at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.


Education:

Ph.D coursework - University of Missouri - Columbia. Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, emphasis in Higher and Continuing Education.

MSLS - University of Tennessee - Knoxville. Master of Science in Library and Information Science.

BS in Business - Murray State University, Murray, KY - emphasis in finance and marketing.

Writing:

Have published in music magazines and weekly local alternative newspapers on music, music history, entrepreneurship and environmental issues

Have published in professional library journals

Currently under contract and writing a career guidebook

Areas of interest:
